She was fast for a woman, but he was even faster. James flitted to the side and dodge Aron's advances.
Their interaction was brief but violent. It soon attracted the attention of the on-lookers. They gossiped and gasped.
James wordlessly glanced at the crowd. He didn't seem mad, but somehow people froze and fell silent under his wandering gaze.
The crowd fell into a creepy silence. James ignored them and looked back at the woman, "Miss Debeur, the fool lady of the Debeurs? You are good at martial arts."
His voice was not loud, but it was clear, chilling and authoritative.
Aron gazed into his hard eyes and felt a sense of oppression despite her life-and-death work experiences. No one had ever made her feel like that. She braced herself to attack at any moment
"Tell me, where did you learn martial arts?"
James looked at the silent woman in front of him and softened his voice a bit, but not enough for people to be at ease.
His black cloak rippled in the wind and seemed to be held down. James squinted at Mary and gave her no chance to escape his observation.
Aron did not relax when she felt his demeanor softened. She wanted to look at the man closely but she was distracted by dizziness.
Through her blurred vision, she could see the man wearing a black cloak and a small crown on his head. He had fathomless deep-set eyes and thin lips. Right now, that pair of thin lips was moving and forming piercing words.
Aron was distracted by the man's weird attire. These people around her all seemed to be dressing weirdly. Mary was puzzled.
Where was she?
She could clearly recall the agony of the blade inserting into her chest. She thought she was dead. But where is this place? Is it the middle ages?
James was annoyed by Mary's lack of responsiveness, but a moment later, the woman walked towards him again and fell into his arms.
Whispers burst into discussions around them.
"Isn't this the young lady of the Debeurs? She is so cheeky that she threw herself at a man like that!"
"This is a true shame! The reputation of our lord Regent is being tarnished by her!"
"Weren't they fighting a few moments ago? Why are they embracing now?"
Mary laid quietly in James's arms. Hearing those degrading words, James glanced at the gossiping crowd emotionlessly and silenced them with a single look. The crow immediately went on they own way.
Seeing that Mary, who was in her arms, had passed out, he took Mary's slim wrist and felt her pulse, looking thoughtful.
After asking so many passers-by, Daisy finally arrived at the scene and saw the prince James, who was standing at the corner of the street.
Bless her heart! How can a man be that handsome! He was as brilliant as Apollo with his eyes like stars in the sky, deep and drugging, and a slight frown completing his aura of dominance like Caesar. To be honest, she dared not to look into his eyes!
Daisy was shaken out of her dazzled state when she recognized the woman in his arms. It was her mistress!
Mary was leaning against the prince as if they were lovers, but looking closer, you could see that she was too motionless.
"Miss…Mistress!" Daisy called hesitantly.
A piercing look from the stunning and unworldly prince made Daisy shiver inwardly. His eyes held no warmth, making her spine shiver coldly and her heart clenching painfully.
It seemed that the time stopped at this moment. Daisy was so frightened that she closed her eyes. Then she felt that something fell into her arms. When she opened her eyes again, she couldn't see the prince and only found that her mistress was leaning against her shoulder quietly. It was just like a dream.
Mary was taken back to the Lord Regent Mansion unconsciously.
There was only Daisy in her chambers.
Looking at the unconscious and badly hurt woman on the bed and thought of the cold shoulder she just received despite her mistress's noble status, Daisy started to sniffle quietly.
When Aron regained consciousness, she was extremely annoyed by that sniveling sound. If she wasn't so weak and hurting right now, she would kill this person right away.
She felt a shadow approach and she instinctively wanted to wring its neck out. She opened her eyes and it was Daisy trying to tuck her in.
