Severo withdrew his eyes and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows of the living room. He held the phone to his ear again; his broad figure seemed especially tall in the light.
Allyce pursed her lips and turned towards the bedroom.
When she came out of the bathroom, she realised that Severo was not in the room. She went to the bedroom door and peeked out quietly to see that he was still on the phone.
Suddenly, he remembered that there was also a bed in the next room, so he walked quietly to the door and closed it behind him.
If I asked her tomorrow, she might say that she had got used to living alone and had forgotten that he was there too, she decided happily.
After closing the door, he soon fell asleep.
The next morning, Allyce woke up to the ringing of her mobile phone.
Confused, she looked at the words flashing on the screen: Husband.

Allyce rejects the call and rolls over to get some more sleep when her phone rings again.
Sitting with her hand in her hair, Allyce picked up the phone and immediately blurted out, "Who are you? This better be a life or death situation or I'll kill you".
There was a long silence on the other end of the line and Allyce was about to hang up when she heard a familiar but unfamiliar voice.
The voice was like flowing water, there was not a hint of anger in it. Somehow, this calm tone sent a shiver through Allyce's body.
"You're not up yet?"
Allyce couldn't help but pull her hair harder, making her scalp ache even more. She gritted her teeth and barely choked out two words: "I'm awake.
It was Severo. I had forgotten that I had got her marriage certificate with him yesterday.
Severo's voice was pleasant even on the phone. The delivery man is at the door, go get him".
"Huh?" Allyce was puzzled, "Did you order anything?"
"Go and open the door. Don't keep him waiting.

Severo's eyes strayed to his messy hair, his expression clearly indicating that he had figured things out. allyce looked at him awkwardly, "Ha! What's wrong with you? I was awake earlier but I felt too tired so I went back to sleep ..."

The lie was exposed on the spot. allyce felt very embarrassed, but then she recovered her expression, pretended to be calm and let Severo in.

"Come on, eat!" Severo finished ordering the takeaway and turned to look at her.

She had to admit that he had got it right. He liked beef very much. He liked beef cooked every way except pan-fried steak.
So when he said he remembered, he meant remembering his habits.
